I didn't get to have a proper church wedding (my dad is a muslim) so i missed out on playing all the songs i had written down since i was 16. Just heard one of the songs being played on
launchcast and it sent shivers down my spine.
Name that tune
Bye bye sadness, hello .......i'll follow u to the moon and the sky above...........i could stay forever, forever......love brought us together........
My hubby and I have decided that we would still get to play those jams when we renew our vows but that's still 4 years away!!!! So what songs must Mr DJ play on your big day? The most important in my opinion is the song u walk into the church with..........i have a new found respect for 'speechless' my Michaal Jackson after it was played at a wedding i went for 4 years ago.

Oh my Gosh Funmi... You just didn't get me started(lol):
In no particular order:
1.Find myself in you by Brian Mcknight
2.Endless love by lionel richie and Diana Ross
3. Stay with you by John Legend ("I will stay with you through the ups and downs; I will stay with you when no one else is around; when the dark clouds arise, I will stay by your side; I know we'll be alright")
4. Rapture by Anita Baker ("Caught up in the rapture of love;Nothing else can compare; When I feel the magic of u")
5.For once in my life by Stevie Wonder ("For once in my life I've got someone who needs me, someone I've needed so long, for once I can say this is mine you can't take it, as long as I know I've got love I can make it")
6.Sway by Michael Buble "Other dancers may be on the floor, dear but my eyes will see only you; only you've got that magic technique; when we sway i go weak"
7.Let's Stay Together by Al Green: "I'm so in love with u;Whatever you want to do is all right with me cos u make me feel so brand new & I want to spend my life with u"
8. At last by Etta James
9. Lost without you by Robin Thicke "I'm lost without you, I can't help myself; How does it feel/To know that I love you baby"

hey funmi, thanks for welcoming me to blogville! Its funny I just listened to "speechless" today and i was thinking how perfect it was for a wedding.
At my wedding we wanted "mo so rire" but then my hubbys parents went into this long debate titled "why should igbo children dance in to a yoruba song" (whatever..i am a lagos girl for life! as far as i am concerned its a naija song) anyway we gave in and danced(more liked walked)in to "this I promise u" by n'sync..it was lovely!

Being a proper yoruba gal, i will dance to MASE by Styl plus.
I also have this plan of getting married on the 24th of december so Mariah Carey's All i want for xams is you will be a good idea. That isnt danceable tho...
will have to think, funmi see whatyou have caused now.

How did it go?
Just saw this now and will like to know what songs were chosen.
Few naija soang come to mind for something like this ...
Oruka - danceable and apt
Olo mi - also very apt and danceable
Attended a wedding recently and (and this song is good for a young lady) the song the bride and her father danced to was "baby Girl" by Niel Oliver ... not sure many dry eyes in the crowd after the dance.
